last train running

this is whiskey falls (a different one) located in north folk california.

i'm not necessarily into country, but sometimes there are country songs that speak to me somehow. this tune is one of them. strange, i don't really think there is anything really distinctive about this particular one, i just dig it. maybe it's the lyrics. maybe it's the power of the harmony of the voices together. maybe it reminds me of the small farming town i grew up in. i know autumn is coming, i can feel it in the air. back home we used to have a fall festival in our little town to celebrate the harvest. maybe that's where this song takes me. there was a carnival, complete with ferris wheel and tilt-a-whirl, weenie roasts, homecoming parade, game, and dance. and i think there was 4H showing and a cook-off of some sort. the good ole days. rocky mountain roundup is hosting a picnic fun-raiser 2pm today at cheesman park. i really would love to have a pie-eating contest just like the one in "stand by me". we'll see. the queens would probably prefer bobbing for hot dogs. anyway - here's last train running... have a fun-filled sunday.

At the end of my life when I take that journey all alone
And I’m on my own and there’s no one there to save me
Oh when I look back at all the things that I’ve done wrong
You know I wasn’t always strong lord will you take me

Cause I been down as far as a man can go
I wanna be ready when I hear that whistle blow

CHORUS:
And I’m on the last train running and the devil’s coming
Hoping that my good outweighs the bad
And I’m heading for the station the final destination
Praying for the lord to take my hand
And I’m on the last train running

When I close my eyes and I’m holding on to my last breath
I don’t want my regrets to coming back to haunt me
When it’s far too late to ask forgiveness for my sins
I hope my enemies and friends can both forgive me

Will there be tears for me when I go
Or will I be just another name carved in a stone

CHORUS:
When I’m on the last train running and the devil’s coming
Doing all he can to take my soul
And I’m heading for the station the final destination
Praying for the lord to take me home
And I’m on the last train running
I’m on the last train running

You only get one shot
One chance against the clock and
You only get one life
One chance to make it right

When I’m on the last train running and the devil’s coming
Doing all he can to take my soul or lord won’t you come and take me home
On the last train running
When I’m on the last
On the last train
When I’m on the last train running

Boy, one second you've taken me back to a languid harvest festival hinting of autumn, and the next minute I'm on Death Train 2000! Holy Heavy Lyrics!
Who's that's "sweet" guy who sent you that bizarro birthday card anyway? Looks like the product of a pretty disturbed mind to me! (Maybe that's why you like each other..)

trash guy- i didn't think the train was a death train. but i'm goofy. and yes the psych patient that made that is a bit tetched in the head. but he's pretty smart- kinda like rain man.

and mr d. i reckon ur onto somethin' there. the really weird thing is my sentences were not constructed to read that way. they just naturally do. which makes me wonder if i'm conscious at all.
