it's the most wonderful time to be queer
damn, i missed this show yeserday and i am totally disappointed. charles phoenix puts together these shots that are totally wacky and retro, extremely fun, and engaging. he will be in phoenix on dec 4 and in la the 17th thru the 19th. i encourage any readers living in those cities to consider taking in his work. the holidays are most definitely challenging, but there are so many great things about them too. being silly, reviving campy in my life, and having another reason to practice kindness are just a couple i can list. for me, it is indeed, a wonderful time to be alive.
here's charles phoenix's link if you would like further information.
and now a nod to johnny mathis. when i was a very young boy, my mother used to have a couple of his albums, and i remember hearing those songs many times during my boyhood around the house. and it doesn't matter to me how he defines himself. he's of a different generation and lived under a different agreement field. i am thrilled however that so many queer men are not required to lead two lives without losing their livelihoods. i know many of them do anyway, but it's not a requirement today as it was in the 50's and 60's. but johnny may have been queer when queer wasn't cool.
