serosorting my dreams
i sent out the link for the new mhmp website and have gotten back some pretty good feedback. it is not all original text. we made arrangements with a seattle agency to "lift" some collateral. there is hardly logic to recreate a lot of information if it has already been done with excellence. there is certainl growth necessary on the site, and changes are bound to be made. but i am glad it is off the ground. this whole project is truly a dream coming true for me.
in the "getting off" group last night, we were discussing "coming out all over again" about our crystal meth addiction, or use. it turned into a very lively discussion about many things, including coming out about hiv, coming out as a gay man, and the very timely topic of serosorting popped up. i think serosorting could be a healthy sign for our culture. it doesn't need to be divisive, however. it could just mean that someone is paying attention to some risks, and does not necessarily have to be a tool for mean-spiritedness. i only wish that it would become commonplace to have conversations about status and no longer be an issue. do the psychological difficulties of serosorting outweigh the physical risks in not asking? does the "barebacking" philosophy dominate? can we have hot sex without it being anonymous? there are not simple answers to these questions from where i stand. i think it would be a step in a great direction if we started moving towards acceptance of both status(es), looking at our own individual fears, and think about becoming a more unified culture around hiv again. and maybe start teaching the rest of the world how we have learned to heal ourselves, so they can start to do the same.
well, a guy can dream can't he?
way to go - paul potts- way to go. funny how seeing a clip of someone else's dream coming true makes me feel better about having my own dreams.
