i got wood

.
i am beginning the construction for tina's talking wall today. i got the wood for the actual wall and ideally i would like to paint those out white. but more importantly, i need to work out the support mechanisms that are going to keep them standing while 100,000 people pass by- hopefully with several thousand stopping to actually write down a thought or two. so it needs to be sturdy and simple.


i'm proud of the work i do. but i may be in need of some new boundaries for myself. i think today is a great day for some time out. laughter might be a necessary nutritional supplement today. if only i didn't have the whole day scheduled for service work...(i'm trying to figure out where the job ends and the recreation begins?) i guess i'll just have to pray on it. hope you find time to have some fun and get a good laugh in.

hard candy

 

i happened to watch the movie "hard candy" the other evening. a bit slow, but it definitely left me with an impression. it asked questions, and left me with more questions. how much more can i expect from a film. there wasn't much "feel good" in this, but there was an opportunity to expand my understanding of pain and a chance to feel my flesh crawl. its premise takes me back to "i spit on your grave" from the eighties, which ran at the theatres in chicago for all of one week, till it got pulled. i would recommend both films, if you haven't seen  them yet. although, strangely enough i don't actually recommend retribution. i do, however, have a tendency to empathize with its existence. and thanks to youtube for the combination of hard candy clips with the 30 seconds from mars (photo above-thank you mr jared leto et al) track. it truly is inspired.

 

oh, and i googled eunuchs and i found more than i had bargained for. here is what i found to be the most indulgent.....(check out "becoming an impotent pigboy") can i just say ewwww here?
